All MDP leaders are ready to work towards saving the nation; party unlikely to fracture following primary: Shamheed

Dr. Ahmed Shamheed, the Member of Parliament for the South Hulhumale' constituency, has stated that he does not believe the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will face internal division following its primary. He emphasized that all party leaders remain committed and ready to undertake the necessary efforts to safeguard the nation.

Speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fashaairu" program, Dr. Shamheed stated that MDP members are individuals who will exercise their own independent thought and judgment in the efforts surrounding the presidential election. He further noted that success can only be achieved by working together in a unified spirit, emphasizing the need to reflect on and learn from past experiences.

Shamheed stated that despite the intensity of the primary, he does not believe the party will face internal division following the election. He noted that all leaders within the MDP remain ready to undertake the necessary efforts to safeguard the nation.

He emphasized that following the conclusion of the primary, the party must work together as a unified front.

Furthermore, Dr. Shamheed stated that he remains ready to stand behind and support whichever candidate emerges victorious following the primary results. He described this unity as essential for the party's future and for securing victory in the upcoming presidential election.

Internal elections within the MDP have always been highly competitive, and this year's presidential primary is no exception, drawing significant interest and engagement from party members. Shamheed has also announced his decision to contest in this upcoming election.
