Hulhudheli School Projects Stall as Hall Site Remains a Pit

Council President highlighted additional grievances, including the prolonged absence of a permanent principal and the physical safety risks posed to students by open excavation pits left at the construction site.

The Hulhudheli Island Council has expressed concern over the lack of progress on projects scheduled for the local school.
In an interview with RaajjeTV, Hulhudheli Council President Ahmed Nasru stated that work on the proposed multipurpose hall at Hulhudheli School has come to a standstill. He further noted that although air conditioning units have been installed under the "Cool School" project, they are yet to be brought into operation.
In this regard, Nasru noted that the construction of the multipurpose hall in Hulhudheli was a project initiated with a foundation-laying ceremony timed to coincide with the previous local council elections. However, he pointed out that no practical work on the project has been carried out to date.

They brought in two Bangladeshi workers from a local boat to dig this up, and all they have done is erect some thin rebar. Nasru further stated that the council has not been informed of which company has been awarded the contract to construct the multipurpose hall.
Highlighting the "Cool School" project initiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration, Nasru stated that the Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) had jointly provided 15 air conditioning units to address a shortage for the project. He noted that the government has since supplied additional units as well. Furthermore, Nasru confirmed that the air conditioning systems have already been installed for six months.
However, Nasru stated that the air conditioning units remain unutilized because the government has failed to secure the necessary funding for the electrical installation. He further noted that since the classroom windows and doors are currently kept closed, students are facing significant difficulties.
Furthermore, Nasru stated that although the school has been generating salary slips for a principal since January 2026, there is currently no principal serving at the institution. He added that teachers have been expressing their concerns regarding this matter.
