Minister Muththalib Rejects Blame for 2025 Agenda Delays

The Minister made these remarks while responding to a question regarding the water and sewerage project in B. Kihaadhoo, noting that out of the 258 questions submitted by the MDP so far, the majority have been directed at the Housing Ministry.

Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has stated that he is not responsible for the delays in scheduling parliamentary questions submitted by MDP members regarding cabinet ministers.
Minister Muththalib attended the People's Majlis on Monday to respond to an inquiry posed by the Member for Kendhoo constituency, Mauroof Zakir.
In his inquiry, the Member noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had pledged on August 13, 2025, to complete the water and sewerage project in B. Kihaadhoo within six months. However, the Member pointed out that no work has commenced to date, nor has a start date been established. Consequently, the Member questioned the Minister regarding the specific date the project would be completed and when services would officially begin.
While presenting the inquiry, the member noted that the question had been formally submitted to the Minister for the year 2025.
Before addressing the question posed by MP Mauroof, the Minister noted that several inquiries had been submitted by MDP members. He clarified that he should not be held responsible for the delays in including these questions on the agenda.

Member of Parliament for North Galolhu, Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu), recently revealed that 56 notices for questioning have been sent to the Ministry of Housing out of the total inquiries submitted to cabinet ministers.
The member stated that MDP parliamentarians have submitted a total of 258 questions to cabinet ministers to date. Among them, the highest number of inquiries was directed at the Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Abdulla Muththalib. Minister Muththalib has been issued 56 questions, a figure significantly higher than those directed at any other cabinet member.
