Over MVR 50,000 was stolen from Vilingili Island Council Secretariat safe.
The theft occurred on Sunday night, after a break in at the Council Secretariat premises.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) had confirmed a theft had occurred in the island. The agency also confirmed that a 37-year-old man was arrested in connection to the theft and that the investigation was underway.
Police also said no other items had been reported stolen.
