Björn Again concert scheduled to be held at Social Centre, cancelled

Uber Events, the organizers of the Björn Again Abba Forever concert, have expressed their concerns following the cancellation of the event, which was scheduled to take place at the Social Centre on Thursday night.

In a statement, the company announced that the concert had to be canceled after the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts abruptly revoked the venue approval while event preparations were already underway.

Uber Events revealed that the Ministry reached this decision while stage construction was already underway and members of the band Björn Again were en route to the Maldives. The company stated that this abrupt move has resulted in significant financial and logistical losses for the organizers, while further noting that it would negatively impact the local artists and sponsors involved in the event.

The company emphasized that it is a core principle for all artists to respect the laws, regulations, and cultural values of the Maldives, noting that the band Björn Again was fully prepared to comply with these standards. Furthermore, the company expressed concern over the challenges such abrupt decisions pose to the entertainment industry.

Uber Events has issued an apology to those who purchased tickets for the event. The company has assured ticket holders that the refund process will commence within this week. Furthermore, the company stated that it will continue to advocate for fair and predictable regulations within the Maldivian entertainment industry.
