Twelve weddings scheduled at the Family Court to coincide with Sunday's unique date

While five of these ceremonies will be conducted at the courthouse, the remaining seven are set to be held at private venues; choosing memorable dates for marriage remains a popular and enduring trend among Maldivians.

Marrying on unique and memorable dates has become a popular trend among Maldivians. In line with this, the Family Court has announced that 12 weddings are scheduled to take place in Male' to coincide with the special date of July 26, 2026.
According to data released by the Family Court today, five of the weddings scheduled for today will take place on the court premises. The remaining seven ceremonies are set to be conducted out of court, at various private residences and event halls.
The highest number of marriages recorded on a single day so far this year took place on June 26. That date was widely chosen by couples as a special and memorable occasion to wed.
It is common among Maldivians to place great importance on getting married on aesthetically significant dates. According to statistics from the Family Court, a large number of people submit applications to wed on dates with repeating numerical patterns or those that are easily memorable.
