Male' City Mayor Azim meets with Indian High Commissioner to discuss urban development

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim and the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, G. Balasubramanian, have held discussions regarding the development of the capital city and enhancing the capacity of the Male' City Council.
During a meeting held at the Male' City Council office on Thursday, Mayor Adam Azim discussed the challenges currently facing the political administration of various institutions. The Mayor also highlighted potential areas for collaboration between the two parties and identified specific sectors where further training is required.
Mayor Azim stated that the Male' City Council will prioritize enhancing administrative capacity and developing human resources during the current term.
The Indian Ambassador noted that several courses are already underway under the ITEC program and provided assurances that further training opportunities will be made available.
Furthermore, the meeting included discussions on establishing 'Sister City' relationships between Indian municipal corporations and the Male' City Council. In this regard, the High Commissioner recommended strengthening ties through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with entities such as the Greater Chennai Corporation.
The meeting also included discussions on procuring outdoor gym equipment and establishing public reading spaces.
