MQA Allegations Aimed at Tarnishing Reputation: Avid College
Avid College has accused the MQA of unfairly damaging its reputation by taking disciplinary action without prior inquiry over allegations of conducting unauthorized overseas courses. In an official statement, the college asserted that it has not partnered with any international institutions to run programs since the implementation of the new regulations, labeling the MQA’s decision a violation of the principles of natural justice. The college further emphasized that such extrajudicial penalties are unacceptable and maintains that it has operated strictly within the legal framework.

Avid College has dismissed allegations by the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) regarding the issuance of certificates to unregistered students, labeling the claims as a bad-faith attempt to undermine public trust in the institution.
In a press release issued regarding the matter, Avid College stated that the allegations made against the institution in a statement released by the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) on Sunday, June 21, 2026, are baseless and factually incorrect. The college emphasized that it has established numerous academic partnerships with international educational institutions over the years, noting that these collaborations have been formally shared with the MQA.
According to the statement, the regulations governing the delivery of Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) accredited programs abroad were gazetted and implemented on September 10, 2025. The statement further noted that when the MQA took disciplinary action against Avid College and publicly announced the measures on June 18, 2026, the authority had failed to engage in any prior consultation or seek clarification from the college regarding the matter.
No questions were asked to clarify the facts of the matter. This demonstrates a lack of sincerity and reveals a deliberate attempt to undermine the public's trust and confidence in Avid College. Furthermore, it is certain that this was an unjust act carried out specifically to tarnish the reputation of Avid College.Statement from Avid College
Avid College further clarified that it has not conducted any courses through international institutions since September 10, 2025. The college stated that it has notified its foreign partners that no transactions violating the new regulations will be permitted and has formally brought the matter to the attention of the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA).
Furthermore, Avid College alleged that any penalty imposed on an individual or entity must be within the legal framework of an existing law or regulation. The college further contended that the Maldives Qualifications Authority's (MQA) actions violate the principle of the "presumption of innocence," which dictates that an individual is considered innocent until proven guilty.
