Government has become extremist; targeting individuals with punitive measures: Aik
Legal expert Aik Ahmed Easa has raised concerns over the increasing number of unfair dismissals by the current administration, stating that these actions are causing significant distress to families. Highlighting that individuals are being targeted in violation of legal procedures, he noted that approximately 60 such cases have already been submitted to the Employment Tribunal for redress.

Legal counsel Aik Ahmed Easa has stated that current actions appear to be specifically targeting certain individuals.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Aik stated that while previous administrations have also displayed acts of cruelty, none have reached the levels seen under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government. He noted that cases of unfair dismissals from employment have surged significantly under the current administration, describing the scale of these issues as unprecedented.
Furthermore, the lawyer stated that when individuals are unfairly dismissed from their jobs, it is not just the rights of the individual that are violated, but entire families that are left destitute. Aik highlighted that when approximately twenty people are terminated from a single island, it causes significant instability and hardship for their families.

Aik stated that political interference has now reached an extreme level, noting that numerous related issues have surfaced recently. He further revealed that approximately sixty such cases have already been submitted to the Tribunal.
Furthermore, Aik stated that there are established legal procedures for dismissing an employee, and it is regrettable that these protocols are not being followed. The lawyer further noted that current actions appear to be targeting specific individuals.

The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced plans to hold nationwide protests on Thursday night, calling for an end to the unfair treatment of employees at state-owned enterprises.
