I am not an expert on financial details, but Ras Male' project is a necessity that must be completed; reclamation and settlement should proceed as quickly as possible: Muththalib
Minister of Housing, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, has stated that the Ras Male' project is essential to resolving the housing crisis in the Greater Male' Region. The Minister noted that since land from existing reclamation sites has already been allocated, reclaiming Ras Male' is the only way to meet housing demands for the next 20 years. Consequently, the project has been entrusted to state-owned enterprises to ensure rapid development and expedite the habitation of the area.

Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr. Abdulla Muththalib stated that the Ras Male' project is a necessity, asserting that the country’s housing needs cannot be met without the reclamation of the site.
During Monday's parliamentary sitting, the Minister stated that the housing crisis facing the Greater Male' region cannot be resolved without the reclamation of Ras Male'. The Minister made these remarks in response to a question posed by the Member of Parliament for North Galolhu, Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudoo).
Highlighting the lack of available land for housing projects or flat construction, the Minister strongly criticized the previous allocation of land and plots to citizens from Hulhumale', Giravaru Lagoon, and Gulhifalhu.
If the government is to provide housing for the Maldivian people, it is essential to plan and develop new locations. In this regard, the Rasmalé project is a necessity. We cannot provide housing without reclaiming that land. Therefore, the government will proceed with what is required under that principle. The project is currently being carried out through the Ministry of Finance and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). It is being managed by MACL in collaboration with two or three other companies. I do not have the specific financial details. My primary interest is to see the land reclaimed and the area populated as quickly as possible.Minister of Housing, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib
The Minister has previously asserted that the Ras Male' project is the only viable solution to the housing crisis in the Greater Male' Region. He emphasized that the project is being developed as part of a strategic plan spanning the next 20 years.
The Minister further stated that since the areas currently being reclaimed have already been allocated for housing plots, the housing crisis can only be resolved by seeking alternative solutions and planning for the future.
