Police have stated that preliminary findings from the investigation into the suspected arson of a police officer's motorcycle in Sh. Foakaidhoo indicate the act was a deliberate attack targeting the officer. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on the night of April 27, 2026. According to the authorities, the motorcycle was burned beyond repair in the fire. Additionally, the blaze caused damage to parts of the residence, including the property's gate.
Police stated that the Maldives Police Service is investigating the matter as a serious case. Efforts are currently underway to identify the perpetrator and take all necessary legal actions against them.
The statement further noted that the Maldives Police Service strongly condemns such acts of intimidation targeting law enforcement officers. It emphasized that these actions are viewed as a direct challenge to the safety and security of the entire community.
The police stated that such cowardly acts by criminals, intended to obstruct police duties and intimidate officers, will not deter their efforts to enforce the law. Furthermore, the police emphasized that they will not hesitate to take the strictest legal action against any acts of violence or retaliation directed toward their officers.

The motorcycle was set on fire at approximately 10:30 p.m. on the night of April 27. The vehicle, which belonged to the officer-in-charge of the Sh. Foakaidhoo Police Station, was parked near his residence at the time of the incident.
