Special ceremony held to hoist the flag on the occasion of Maldives National Defence Force Day
Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon presided over a special flag-hoisting ceremony held at Kalhuthukkala Koshi to commemorate the 132nd Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Day. During the event, the Minister officially inaugurated this year’s military theme: "Military Discipline – The Advancement of the Force."

A special flag-hoisting ceremony has been held to mark the Maldives National Defence Force’s (MNDF) proud occasion of MNDF Day.
The Minister of Defence and National Security, Honorable Hassan Rasheed, officiated a special ceremony held at Kalhuthukkalaa Koshi at 06:00 AM on April 21st.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Defence unveiled this year's official theme: "Military Discipline – The Advancement of the Force."
The ceremony, held to mark Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Day, was attended by Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Ahmed Ghiyas, and general officers. Also in attendance were the Sergeant Major of the MNDF Adnan Ali, along with officers, warrant officers, and personnel from the enlisted ranks.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer and the military anthem. To mark the occasion of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Day 2026, flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held across all centers established within the military's area commands.
