Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif has stated that citizens want their own voices to lead their city's development, rather than being dictated to by a "bundle of lies" originating from Male'.
The Mayor made these remarks while speaking at the "Siyaasathu Jalsa 1" (Policy Rally 1) held in Kulhudhuffushi City on Tuesday night.
Mayor Athif stated that those who do not understand or accept the decentralized system have no reason to contest the upcoming elections. He noted that the public is not prepared to vote for such a team, as citizens desire to have local governance within their own communities.

Furthermore, during the gathering, Mayor Athif highlighted that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is the only political party in the Maldives that contests elections with a clear, defined policy.
Mayor Athif stated that policy, in this context, refers to a framework developed by engaging directly with the people to identify their challenges and determine how to improve their circumstances. He further noted that such policies are formulated only after thoroughly researching and confirming the most effective methods to achieve those goals.
