Velidhoo MP Mohamed Abbas has stated that the government will significantly increase fuel prices once the elections are concluded.
In a post shared on X, Abbas stated that employees recruited from various islands ahead of the elections will be dismissed from their positions once the election concludes.
Furthermore, he stated that the government would significantly hike fuel prices once the elections conclude. He added that this move would lead to an exorbitant increase in the cost of goods.
Furthermore, Abbas noted that the public is well aware that the government will eventually carry out all the actions it previously claimed it would not. He urged citizens to exercise wisdom and make the most of the current situation before it is too late.
Abbas further stated that STO's decision to provide fuel for public transport and ferry services at previous rates is a temporary measure intended only until the conclusion of the upcoming local council elections. He emphasized that the public must resoundingly reject a government that resorts to lying and deceiving its citizens.
