With the change of government, Kendhikulhudhoo harbor project is being carried out in a mocking manner: Council Vice President
The Kendhikulhudhoo Island Council has expressed serious concern over the prolonged suspension of the island's harbor expansion and slipway construction project. Highlighting the detrimental impact of the delays, the council noted that the unfinished breakwater has allowed significant siltation within the harbor basin, damaging previously completed work. The council further criticized the government's policies and its apparent inability to secure the necessary boulders required to move the project forward.

The Vice President of the Kendhikulhudhoo Council, Hassan Mohamed, has stated that work on the island's harbor has come to a standstill following the change in administration, suggesting that this reflects the government's true approach to serving the public.
The development of the harbor in N. Kendhikulhudhoo was initiated during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Due to the challenges faced with the existing harbor, the project was structured to be completed in three distinct phases. Speaking to RaajjeTV regarding the project, the Vice President of the Kendhikulhudhoo Council, Hassan Mohamed, stated that the scope of work includes the expansion of the harbor, the construction of a slipway, and the development of a breakwater.
He stated that following the change in administration, work has come to a standstill, and the current state of the harbor area reflects this reality.
We only receive two barrels of fuel every now and then, and we work until those two barrels are exhausted. It appears that the issue does not lie with MTCC. This is simply how the government has chosen to treat the people. There is a saying that islanders lack a few 'bits' of intelligence; it is in that same mocking spirit that this administration is treating its citizens.Hassan Mohamed, Vice President of the Kendhikulhudhoo Island Council
Hassan described the claims regarding the shortage of armor stones as "absurd," noting that when the current administration took office, those in power seemed unaware that such stones are not naturally produced in the Maldives.
They assumed that rocks could simply be sourced from local beaches for the revetments. Instead, these materials are being imported from India or other foreign countries. Despite their verbal attacks against India, they mistakenly believed they could still secure the necessary rock supply for these projects.Hassan Mohamed, Vice President of the Kendhikulhudhoo Council
Hassan stated that it has been a long time since the harbor was last dredged. He noted that because the breakwater remains unfinished without the installation of armor rocks, sand will continue to wash into the harbor during the western monsoon, necessitating further dredging in the future.
