The Maldives Sports Awards, a prestigious platform dedicated to celebrating outstanding athletic achievements and recognizing the invaluable contributions of sports professionals, is set to take place on February 15.
The official announcement confirming the ceremony date was unveiled through a video presentation shared across the awards’ official social media platforms, building anticipation within the sporting community.
According to the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, the ceremony scheduled for 15 February 2026, will serve as the 2024 edition of the Maldives Sports Awards. Although this edition was originally planned to be held last year, the ministry previously informed the media that it was postponed due to various reasons.
The ministry further noted that once the 2024 awards conclude in February, preparations are already underway to host the 2025 awards ceremony later this year.
However, the ministry did not disclose the specific reasons behind the earlier delays.
The Maldives Sports Awards was first inaugurated during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The editions held in 2022 and 2023 drew significant international media attention, featuring renowned global sports icons and legends.
Since the current administration assumed office, a ceremony was held in 2024 to honor and celebrate the achievements and services of athletes recorded during the year 2023, continuing the tradition of recognizing sporting excellence on a national stage.
