Eight months since WAMCO withheld employee pension deductions without depositing them
Employees report that pension deductions made since February have not been transferred to MPAO despite raising concerns with management
Similar pension fund withholding issues are occurring at RDC where deposits promised by October 15 have not been made
According to employees, pension deductions made since February have not been transferred

It has been eight months since Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) deducted pension contributions from employee salaries but failed to deposit the funds.

According to employees, pension deductions made since February this year have not been transferred to the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO). Staff members say the matter has repeatedly been raised with senior management and the human resources department, yet no clear response or resolution has been provided.

Attempts to reach WAMCO’s HR department for clarification went unanswered, and efforts to obtain an official comment from the company were unsuccessful.

The issue mirrors a similar situation at the Road Development Corporation (RDC), where employee pension deductions have also remained undistributed since February.

Despite assurances from RDC’s management that the funds would be deposited by October 15, employees report that no deposits have been made to date.

The prolonged failure to transfer employee pension contributions raises serious concerns over compliance with labor and pension regulations, as well as accountability within state-owned enterprises.
