At an official National Day ceremony held on Sunday in Utheem Island, Haa Alif Atoll, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu conferred the National Award of Honour on three individuals and the National Award of Recognition on nine individuals and one company.
Among those who received this year's National Award of Honor are Sheikh Ismail Mohamed for his contributions in raising awareness about Islam and teaching religious knowledge, Mohamed Marouf Jameel for his work in the field of construction and architecture, and the late Mohamed Majid for his contributions to the performing arts.
The recipients of the National Award of Recognition include Husna Fahmy who was recognized for her steadfast dedication to the advancement of the Dhivehi language and literature through publishing and writing. Ahmed Nizar received the award for his continued efforts in promoting and preserving Dhivehi poetry, while Abdul Azeez Hameed was honored for his exceptional service and tireless work in advancing healthcare and raising public awareness.
Amira Sulaiman was awarded for her outstanding contributions to the healthcare sector, particularly in fostering the development and practice of local and traditional medicine. Fathimath Ibrahim received recognition for her unwavering commitment to the welfare of children and adults with disabilities and special needs.
Additional recipients include Ahmed Waheed Ali, recognized for his exemplary dedication to community engagement, empowerment, and mobilization; Aleemuddeen, honored for his steadfast commitment and multifaceted contributions through a diverse range of productive initiatives and enterprises; and Mohamed Jailam, for his outstanding service and innovation in developing computer software and applications.
Zahiyya Mohamed was also recognized for her trailblazing service and unwavering dedication in a field traditionally underrepresented by women.
Ooredoo Maldives received the National Award of Recognition for its committed efforts in fostering and expanding trade and commerce, particularly in the telecommunications industry.
These individuals were selected for the National Awards by the National Awards Committee established by the president. The National Award of Honor consists of an honorary shield, an honorary badge, and a commemorative document, while the National Award of Encouragement includes a commemorative plaque and a commemorative document.
