A large national-level gathering in solidarity with the Palestinian people is scheduled to take place across the Maldives on Friday.

The event, part of the “Global Smooth Flotilla” movement, is being organized by the International Aid Campaign (IAC) with the support of a special steering committee comprising civil society organizations, institutions, businesses, and members of the public.

The main event in the capital Malé City will be held at Maafannu Grand Stadium and is scheduled to begin at 4pm. Simultaneous gatherings are planned across more than 50 inhabited islands throughout the country.

Organizers state the event will feature public expressions of solidarity with Gaza and awareness sessions aimed at highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine. The public is being encouraged to attend in large numbers to show unified support for the Palestinian cause.

The Maldives has a long history of vocal support for Palestine, and this gathering is expected to be one of the largest of its kind in the country.
