CCTV footage captures moment Yameen jumps into sea from Sinamalé Bridge

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has confirmed that CCTV footage shows Hassan Yameen, who was reported missing since 14 July 2025, jumping into the sea from the Sinamalé Bridge.

In a press release, the Maldives Police Service stated that, as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Hassan Yameen, a substantial amount of CCTV footage was reviewed. According to the police, footage captured Yameen jumping into the sea from the Sinamalé Bridge at approximately 3:24am on Sunday, July 14.

The police institution went on to note that this information has been shared with Hassan Yameen’s family, and the investigation team is maintaining close communication with them. Following the discovery, the Marine Police and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard launched joint search operations in an effort to locate Yameen.

The statement urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding the case, out of respect for Yameen's family and to maintain the integrity of the investigation. The police institution appealed to rely solely on the information provided by the police.
