Applications open for Chief Justice post
JSC has opened applications for Chief Justice position following Muthasim's retirement
Applications must be submitted through JSC's Fahires Portal by July 29 at 12pm
Candidates must be at least 30 years old with a first degree in Islamic Sharia or Law and have seven years of experience

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has opened the opportunity to apply for the position of Chief Justice following the retirement of Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.

JSC announced that applications are now open for the position of Chief Justice. The call for applications is part of the commission’s mandate to advise the president in accordance with Article 148(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.

According to the announcement, the deadline for applying for the position is 12pm, July 29. Applications for the position must be submitted through JSC's Fahires Portal.

In addition to meeting the general qualifications required for judges, candidates for Chief Justice must be at least 30 years old. They must also have obtained a first degree in Islamic Sharia or Law and Islamic Sharia, and have at least seven years of experience as a judge or practicing law.

The opportunity to apply for the position of Chief Justice has been opened following the retirement of Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, who held the position. The responsibilities of the Chief Justice have been handed over to Justice Abdulla Hameed.

In a statement released by the Supreme Court, it was mentioned that following Muthasim's honorable retirement from the position of Chief Justice effective from July 21, the administration of the Supreme Court has been entrusted to Justice Hameed.
