Tragic accident in Malé claims life of 17yo, leaves two critically injured

A 17-year-old boy died in a tragic road accident after a pickup truck struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the street.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) reported that three individuals were injured in the accident, which occurred around 8:15pm on Sunday. The victims are believed to include a pedestrian who was crossing the road and two people riding a motorcycle. The police institution has since confirmed that the deceased minor was among those injured.

In a statement to the media on Sunday night, police confirmed that a 16-year-old and a 40-year-old were injured in the accident. Authorities also clarified that the injured 16-year-old and the deceased 17-year-old were the two individuals riding the motorcycle at the time of the incident.
