Over 1,200 tourist facilities currently active across Maldives

The number of tourist accommodation establishments operational across the Maldives, has risen.

This was revealed by the latest weekly statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday.

As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of June 25, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sat at 1,214. The guesthouses span across 107 islands of 20 atolls, with hotels operational on nine islands of eight atolls and resorts operational across 175 islands of 19 atolls. 69 percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 23 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by liveaboard vessels, and three percent by hotels.

This means that 98.3 percent of the beds were in operation by the end of the week.

Presently, a total of 65,189 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 183 resorts, 856 guesthouses, 16 hotels, and 159 live-aboard vessels.

The beds operational across these facilities include 45,129 in resorts, 2,310 in hotels, 14,588 in guesthouses, and 3,162 in live-aboard vessels.

According to the latest weekly statistics by the tourism ministry, tourist facilities currently in operation are:

  • Two resorts and 20 guesthouses across islands of Haa Alif atoll,
  • Two resorts, one hotel and 12 guesthouses across islands of Haa Dhaal atoll,
  • 17 resorts, one hotel and seven guesthouses across islands of Raa atoll,
  • 16 resorts, one hotel and 72 guesthouses across islands of Baa atoll,
  • 12 resorts and 158 guesthouses across islands of Alif Alif atoll,
  • 17 resorts, one hotel and 105 guesthouses across islands of Alif Dhaal atoll,
  • One resort and seven guesthouses across islands of Faafu atoll,
  • Nine resorts and nine guesthouses across islands of Dhaalu atoll,
  • One resort and nine guesthouses across islands of Thaa atoll,
  • Two resorts and 10 guesthouses across islands of Gaaf Dhaal atoll,
  • Two resorts and nine guesthouses across islands of Shaviyani atoll,
  • Eight resorts and 15 guesthouses across islands of Noonu atoll,
  • 11 resorts and three guesthouses across islands of Lhaviyani atoll,
  • 57 resorts, nine hotels and 302 guesthouses across islands of Kaafu atoll,
  • Five resorts, one hotel and 54 guesthouses across islands of Vaavu atoll,
  • Three resorts and four guesthouses across islands of Meemu atoll,
  • Two resorts and four guesthouses across islands of Laamu atoll,
  • Six resorts, one hotel and 12 guesthouses across islands of Gaaf Alif atoll,
  • 25 guesthouses in Fuvahmulah City,
  • Two resorts, one hotel and 19 guesthouses across districts of Addu City in Seenu atoll
