Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that so far 489 Maldivian pilgrims have arrived in Mecca.

Regarding the progress of Hajj affairs, Minister Shaheem said that as of now, 489 Maldivian pilgrims have arrived in Mecca, and all pilgrims are in good health. Highlighting that the Maldivian Hajj Mission is closely monitoring the condition of the pilgrims, Minister Shaheem said that the Hajj Corporation has also made very comprehensive arrangements.

The first group of pilgrims departed on May 26. The second group left on May 27, and the third group departed on May 29. 252 pilgrims left on the flight. The final group, which is the fourth group of pilgrims departed on Friday afternoon.

In addition to this, Maldivian pilgrims have said that all arrangements for accommodation, food, and other necessities have been made very comprehensively. Pilgrims have noted that travel has been made very easy under the Makkah Route Initiative.

This time, pilgrims are departing for Mecca after completing all stages of Saudi Arabian immigration under the Makkah Route Initiative.

The Makkah Route Initiative is an initiative included in Saudi Vision 2030, which has been implemented by the Saudi government under the Ministry of Hajj and the Ministry of Interior since 2018.

This is a special effort being carried out under the supervision of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prince Mohammed bin Salman to provide convenient arrangements for pilgrims.
