President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Aishath Asna Hamdhy of G. Silverge to the position of Deputy Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
Asna was appointed to the position after her name was submitted to the People's Majlis and received parliamentary approval, as stipulated in Article 6(3) of Law No. 6/81 (Maldives Monetary Authority Act 1981).
Asna, who has served in various positions at the central bank, MMA, for seventeen years, was serving as the Managing Director - Financial Sector Development at the institution when she was appointed to the position of Deputy Governor.
In 2014, Asna obtained a master’s degree in business administration specializing in Finance from the University of Nottingham. In addition to this, in 2007, she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honors) from the University of East London, in 2005 an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from the Association of Business Executives in the United Kingdom, and from 2001 to 2003, a Diploma and Certificate in Business Administration from the Association of Business Administration in the United Kingdom.
Further, Asna has received international awards in her field and has also published research papers.
