Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, the Deputy Managing Director of Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), who faces numerous allegations in connection with the case of fraudulently allocated land plots through the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), has acquired a flat in Hulhumalé.
The reports of Fazeel acquiring a flat in Hulhumalé have been exposed at a time HDC has submitted a request to the Civil Court to transfer the flat's registration to his name.
RaajjeMV understands that Fazeel acquired the flat by taking a loan from the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC). While over MVR 1.18 million has been paid for this flat, part of the payment was made using the loan money. The other part is reported to have been paid from his personal funds.
Citing a reliable source, ‘Dhauru’ news reported that Fazeel acquired a flat from Marina View, built by Batch Construction in Hulhumalé.
Fazeel is the elder brother of Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, who resigned from the position of Managing Director of HDC following the surfacing of the land plot scandal. In connection with the case, Fazeel has been suspended from his position as Deputy Managing Director of MWSC since 19 December 2024. To date, he remains suspended and unable to report to the office.
