Bullets have been found on a passenger departing from Velana International Airport (VIA).
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Saturday revealed that they are investigating a case where bullets were discovered on a foreign passenger who was departing from VIA on Friday night.
The police institution revealed that the passenger was departing after arriving in the Maldives on a tourist visa.
In addition to this, the police institution said that when the person taken into police custody in connection with the case was presented to the court for a remand hearing, the Criminal Court ordered for him to be remanded for a six-day period.
Although the police institution has stated that the foreigner entered the Maldives on a tourist visa, when questioned whether the person entered the country with the bullets that were confiscated, police did not disclose any further details regarding the matter.
However, further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
