Malé City Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh has resigned.
When RaajjeTV attempted to contact Nareesh, who had been representing the Central Maafannu constituency in the Malé City Council, to clarify the reason for his resignation, he failed to answer the station’s call. Therefore, the reason for Nareesh's resignation remains unclear.
Nareesh has shared his resignation letter on his social media. In the letter, he expressed gratitude to the former Mayor of Malé, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, current Mayor Adam Azim, and the general public who worked to elect him to the position.
Further, he noted that the time he spent at the Malé City Council was a happy period. He also stated that it was an opportunity for personal growth.
Nareesh did not disclose the reason for his resignation in his resignation letter either. There are rumors that Nareesh resigned to take up a position in the government. However, neither Nareesh nor the government has commented on this matter.
