Addu residents rally against Fenaka MD over electricity crisis
The protesters also called for the immediate resignation of Najah from his position as Fenaka's MD

While more than a year has passed without a permanent solution to Addu's electricity crisis, and despite the government's promise that the electricity issue would be resolved during the ongoing fasting month of Ramadan, the problem remains unsolved. As a result, youth took to the streets to protest when Fenaka Corporation Limited's Managing Director Major (Rtd.) Mohamed Najah visited the southernmost city.
Late Wednesday night, a large crowd of residents gathered in the area of Gan International Airport and raised their voices against the government. The youth also stated that they want an immediate solution to the electricity issue facing Addu City currently.
The protesters also called for the immediate resignation of Najah from his position as Fenaka's MD.
Although President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the electricity issue in Addu City would be solved by Ramadan, the Addu City Council also stated that the government has not worked adequately to find a permanent solution to Addu's electricity crisis.
When Fenaka's MD arrived in Addu City, some Members of Parliament from various constituencies of the city were also present.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s ‘Fashaairu’ morning talk show, Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar revealed that there should be nothing more important for the government right now than solving Addu's electricity crisis.
After a week of uninterrupted electricity supply, power cuts have resumed in several areas of the city since Tuesday.
