Pres. pledges to handover 4,000 flats before September’s end
All flats will be handed over to their rightful owners before the end of September 2025

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the 4,000 flats allocated during the former administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be handed over before the end of September.

He said this during his second presidential address delivered at the inaugural sitting of the People’s Majlis for 2025, held on Thursday morning.

Delivering the presidential address for 2025, the president said that new social housing projects will be initiated this year in Malé, Hulhumalé and Vilimalé.

In addition to this, he revealed that completing the 4,000 flats project, which is progressing with the assistance of the Indian Exim Bank, and resolving the list of 4,000 people who have been announced to receive the flats in accordance with the directives given by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), is a complex issue for the government.

The president said that the work being done to verify the authenticity of the list will be completed and the list will be announced within the ongoing month. He also stated that as the flats are being completed, they will be handed over to the recipients, and all the flats will be handed over to their rightful owners before the end of September 2025.
