PNC’s fraudulent forms scandal: cases lodged at MPS, ACC
MDP has also sought from the PG to order an official investigation
MDP has urged EC not to process any forms submitted by EC
The crime was committed by illegally obtaining information from the DNR database operated under the supervision of Minister Ihusaan

The main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has lodged a case at the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the matter of several individuals being registered to the main ruling People's National Congress (PNC) through fraudulent forms filled using stolen personal information of the Maldivian people.

As this crime was committed by illegally obtaining information from the DNR database operated under the supervision of Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, and since this act carried out jointly by PNC and state institutions constitutes criminal offenses, the party has requested the police institution and the corruption watchdog to investigate all criminal offenses involved in the case, including the creation of imitation and forged documents, providing false information to government institutions, giving false testimonies, and abuse of authority for undue advantage.

In addition to this, the main opposition party addressed a letter to the Prosecutor General on Thursday requesting to officially order these two institutions to investigate these matters.

Further, as it has now been proven that there are discrepancies in the forms submitted by PNC, MDP has also requested the Elections Commission of Maldives not to process any forms submitted by the ruling party, to cancel the forms that have been processed, and to re-verify the authenticity of said forms.
