Three arrested in Malé drug operation

Three individuals have been arrested in a drug operation conducted in the congested capital Malé City on suspicion of using, possessing, and trafficking narcotics.
The operation, carried out on January 13, resulted in the arrest of Nazeeh Shareef, 27 and native to Maamendhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll, Muhsin Mohamed, 31 and native to Fuvahmulah City, and Mohamed Shaan Abdul Ghani, 40 registered in Malé City.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement Department (DED).
As part of the operation, substances believed to be narcotics were found upon searching the suspects.
The provisional weight of the confiscated substances is 98.37 grams.
In connection with the case, when the suspects were presented before the Criminal Court for a remand hearing, all three suspects were ordered to be detained for 15 days.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
