President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has sent a message of condolences to the Acting President of the Republic of Korea Choi Sang-mok, following the tragic plane crash at Muan International Airport.
In his message, the Maldivian president stressed that he received the news of the tragic accident at Muan International Airport, which resulted in several casualties, with sudden shock and deep sorrow. In his message, he expressed his sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident, to the Korean government and people, especially to those affected by the tragedy.
The Maldivian leader concluded his message by wishing success in the ongoing efforts to recover from the losses caused by the incident and praying for strength and resilience in overcoming the tragedy.
According to the latest information regarding the plane crash, 179 people have died. It has been reported that two crew members survived.
The incident occurred on the morning of December 29 when a Jeju Airplane attempted an emergency landing on the runway of Muan International Airport in South Korea. The plane struggled to land, collided with an object and erupted into a ball of flames.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Transport, 181 people were on board Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The plane was attempting to land at the airport around 9am on Sunday.
