It has been revealed that the document used to legitimize a controversial land grant to the sibling of Housing Development Corporation (HDC)’s Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed strays from the standard protocol typically employed by the Housing Ministry for such allocations.

It has also come to light that Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, the sibling of HDC MD Fazul Rasheed who is among those allegedly involved in illegally distributing land through HDC, does not meet the eligibility criteria for the “Binveriyaa” scheme.

Records show that he has previously received social housing as well.

Speaking regarding the issue, former State Minister of Planning Akram Kamaludeen stated that if it were a genuine agreement, it should have a Public Notary stamp, which is missing from the circulating documents.

Akram said that the Housing Ministry would only send HDC a daily list of people who signed agreements, not copies of the agreements themselves.

He noted that in the agreement currently circulating, the agreement number and land registry number are the same, whereas the ministry-issued land registry number and agreement number should be two separate numbers.

Furthermore, Akram stated that this is an infringement on citizens' rights and a crime being committed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration. He also called for citizens to investigate this matter and take action to stop such practices.
