President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged Malé City Council to work with the government to address the urgent concerns facing Maafannu Madharusa.

The president made this appeal while speaking at a special ceremony held to mark the 40th anniversary of Maafannu Madharusa.

At the ceremony, students shared the difficulties faced by the school, including the lack of a hall and other issues with the president.

The students noted that the current hall, located on an upper floor, is inaccessible to elderly people and lacks air conditioning. In response, the president assured that by 2025, a new hall would be developed on the ground floor of the school, making it easily accessible to senior citizens as well.

The president also stated that efforts would be made to train teachers to ensure that students with special needs are fully included in the school environment, like other students. He assured that these training initiatives would be further expanded in 2025.

Pledging to continue addressing any requests made by Maafannu Madharusa for its development in the future, the president urged the Malé City Council to work with the government to fulfill the school's needs as the current custodian of the school.

In addition to this, the president called on everyone to work together with national unity and vision to raise responsible Maldivian children who are firmly grounded in the strong faith of Islam, love their nation, are fully imbued with the spirit of nationalism, and are capable of taking charge of the country's future.

Highlighting that the future of the island nation is bright as observed by the proposals presented by students at the ceremony, Muizzu noted that this serves as an encouragement to build students on a solid foundation.

Saturday’s ceremony saw the president presenting commemorative plaques to staff members who have served the school for long periods in various positions and those who continue to serve.
