The team from Dhidhdhoo island of Haa Alif atoll has moved up the group table in the ongoing 90 Plus Gold Cup football tournament after beating the team from Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaal atoll.
Dhidhdhoo went head-to-head with Kudahuvadhoo at the Galolhu National Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Group A match ended with Dhidhdhoo securing a dominant victory 6 – 2.
From the beginning of the match, Dhidhdhoo played well and scored against Kudahuvadhoo.
Ali Fareed gave Dhidhdhoo the lead in the 33rd minute of the first half. Later, Adam Azim scored Dhidhdhoo's second goal, extending their lead. Dhidhdhoo's other four goals in the match were also scored in the second half. Fareed scored Dhidhdhoo's third goal in the second half.
After that, Kudahuvadhoo scored two goals. Mohamed Zihan Hussain scored their first goal, while Haroon Ibrahim's goal reduced the deficit for Kudahuvadhoo. However, Dhidhdhoo went on to win the match by scoring three more goals. Ahzam Rasheed scored the last three goals for Dhidhdhoo in the match. He came on as a substitute player.
With this victory, Dhidhdhoo is in second place in the group with three points from two matches played so far. Dh. Meedhoo in third place and Kudahuvadhoo in fourth place also have three points from the same number of matches. Fuvahmulah City has secured a place in the second round at the top of the group. The competition for the second place has now intensified.
