A case of fuel theft by employees of Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) has come to light.

Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan revealed that the Maldives Police Service (MPS) is investigating a case where FSM employees have been stealing fuel from the company and laundering the money obtained from it.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’ to disclose further detail, Ihusaan noted that so far, special police teams have searched 10 individuals, two houses and two fuel barges. As part these raids, electronic equipment and documents related to the case have been obtained so far.

Ihusaan added that the police institution would disclose further details regarding the case as the investigation unfolds.

The minister stated that thoroughly and quickly investigating such cases and taking legal action without exempting anyone is something that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu highly prioritizes.

The minister has made these remarks to praise Muizzu at a time several members of the public have been made aware that employees who were given termination letters on suspicion of stealing FSM fuel to gain votes for government candidates in the recent parliamentary elections have been reinstated to their jobs.
