Chief Executive Officer of the Local Government Authority (LGA) Mohamed Nimal has ordered an investigation into the case of defamation claims against Gadhdhoo Council President Mohamed Ahmed, who is accused of communicating in a manner that defamed President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Nimal addressed a letter to the Atoll Council on November 18, requesting an investigation into the case of Gadhdhoo Council President Mohamed Ahmed defaming the president.
The letter signed by the CEO of LGA reads that a complaint letter submitted to the authority by a private individual alleges that the President of Gadhdhoo council of Huvadhoo Atoll South, Mohamed Ahmed, has been communicating in the council's WhatsApp group using offensive language that defames the President of the Maldives and senior government officials.
In the letter sent to Atoll Council President Hassan Faihath, Nimal requested to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
Nimal was appointed as the CEO of LGA by President Muizzu recently.
