More than 1,000 students have graduated from Villa College

More than 1,000 students have graduated from Villa College.

The graduation ceremony was held at Dharubaaruge on September 28.

The ceremony was conducted in two separate sessions and celebrated the graduation of 1,237 students.

The morning session of the graduation ceremony included graduates from the Faculty of Educational Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Shariah and Law, Gasim Ibrahim School of Business, and School of Computer Studies.

The afternoon session of the graduation ceremony included graduates from the Center for Postgraduate Studies, Faculty of Educational Studies, School of Psychology, Faculty of Shariah and Law, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Gasim Ibrahim School of Business.

Students from 53 programmes graduated this year, including 15 from the University of the West of England and 38 from programmes conducted by Villa College.

Among the graduates from Villa College 71 percent were female students and 29 percent were male students.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Vice Rector Dr. Ali Najeeb congratulated the graduates and encouraged them.

He added that Villa College is an educational institution that encourages students to fully pursue their studies and stated that the number of graduates has increased by 10 percent compared to last year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Villa College Rector Dr. Ahmed Anwar stated that Villa College's programmes are designed to instill graduate attributes that students should hold upon completing their programmes.

Further, he said that these attributes include the ability to acquire knowledge, a spirit of development and progress, and professional competence, which he believes will have positively impacted their lives.

Founder of Villa College, Gasim Ibrahim said that students graduate through hard work and that they need to make good use of their education as well as the experience they have gained.

Encouraging students to work towards excellence in life, Gasim said that Villa College is an institution that prioritizes producing students that chase higher education.

Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed attended as chief guest of the second graduation session.

Speaking at the ceremony, the minister shed light on the significance of education and pushed students to make best of what they have learned and to fully engage with their programmes.

Between 2009 – 2024, a total of 21,200 students have graduated from Villa College.
