Pres. returns home after trip to Singapore for medical reason

The first couple has concluded an unofficial visit to Singapore.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed returned home on Wednesday night after concluding their brief visit to Singapore, for a medical reason.
Speaking at a gathering held by ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) on Monday night to explain the reason behind his visit to Singapore, Muizzu implied that he was traveling to Singapore after suffering an injury while playing football in Aarah, as well as for a regular checkup following a surgery he underwent two years ago.
The president did not provide further details of his injury while playing football or the operation he underwent.
Speaking further, Muizzu noted that he recently had a doctor’s consultation in the capital, Malé City as well. He said the doctor referred a second opinion as well as a regular follow up of his previous surgery.
Muizzu said that he routinely plays football in Aarah three days a week and that he injured himself the last time he played.
On Wednesday, pictures of the Maldivian first couple inside a shopping mall during their visit to Singapore, began circulating on social media.
Social media users flooded the comment section of the pictures, pointing out that the SPGs seen accompanying the president were carrying multiple shopping bags.
