A man has been sentenced to seven years behind bars for attacking someone with a knife.

The attack took place on 16 August 2023.

Ahmed Nabeel was charged in connection with the case.

Nabeel stabbed a man after dragging him out of the shower.

The victim has been identified as Ahmed Visham.

The state slapped him with charges of assaulting someone with a sharp weapon under the Prohibition of Intimidation, Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects Act.

However, Nabeel had denied the charges against him, saying that he was not at the scene of the crime on the date and time mentioned in the chargesheet.

With this, the state submitted evidence against him.

According to the victim, Nabeel and a few others barged in while he was taking a shower and dragged him out before stabbing him with a knife.

After the attack, they are to have fled the scene.

The victim is to have stumbled upon police officers after he left the house seeking assistance.

He was rushed to the hospital with the help of the officers.

With the evidence submitted against the accused, he was found guilty of committing the crime and slapped with a prison sentence of seven years.

The Criminal Court order was issued by Judge Ismail Shafeeu.
