Ambassador of Philippines to Maldives Leo Tito L. Ausan, Jr. has presented credentials to the president of Maldives.
The new Philippine ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during a special ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday.
The Philippine ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession, with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
Accepting the Letters of Credence, President Muizzu welcomed the new Philippine ambassador to the Maldives.
Discussions at the meeting that followed the credentials ceremony revolved around enhancing cooperation including in areas of trade, economy as well as tourism.
Maldives and Philippines established diplomatic relations on 12 July 1974.
The new Philippine ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
