Action has been taken against 43 individuals for operating vehicles during the vehicle ban hours on the day of Eid-al-Adha.
Vehicles were prohibited on the roads of the Greater Malé Region between 4pm to 6pm on the day of Eid-al-Adha which fell on June 16.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that officers patrolling the streets of the capital region on the evening of Eid-al-Adha imposed fines on 27 individuals who operated vehicles in Hulhumalé Phase I and 13 for operating vehicles in Hulhumalé Phase II.
Three individuals were fined for operating vehicles on the streets of Malé City that day.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’, the police institution expressed gratitude to members of the public for cooperating with the authorities during the vehicle ban hours.
Police officers were actively present to ensure the safety and enjoyment of families on the streets on the evening of Eid-al-Adha.
MPS revealed that the support from public made this event a success, and allowed everyone in GMR to experience a peaceful, traffic-free environment.
