Two individuals have been injured in a speedboat collision near St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they dispatched a team of officers to the region as soon as they received reports of the accident, on Sunday.

The accident is to have occurred after two speedboats collided near Vommuli Resort, some time after sundown on Sunday.

Two individuals injured in the crash were taken to the Dhaal Atoll Hospital for treatment.

Police cited doctors at the hospital having confirmed that they are in stable condition.

According to the information shared by authorities so far, the accident occurred after nightfall on Sunday.

The police institution revealed that more information related to the accident would be disclosed with additional findings.

However, the cause of the accident could not be confirmed as the accident is still under further investigation by the authorities.
