Three children got electrocuted in Ungoofaaru island of Raa atoll, on Thursday.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, the island’s council member Niha Hussain revealed that three children were rushed to the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital for treatment after being electrocuted while playing on the streets, on Thursday afternoon.

Injured after getting electrocuted while playing in a puddle on the streets were an 18-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy and a girl.

The age of the girl remains unclear.

Reported to have been seriously injured was Hussain Atheek, 18.

He was unconscious even when he was rushed to the hospital and has been receiving CPR.

The remaining two children are also being treated at the hospital.

They were taken to the hospital at around 01:40pm on Thursday.

Sources report that the water puddle was charged by a street light pole.

The council also reported that work was also underway on the Children’s Park established on the island, at the time.
