The Xizang Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China has donated mineral water to the Maldives.

The Maldivian government received the donation of 1,500 tonnes of mineral water on Thursday.

The donation is a kind gesture from the people of Xizang Autonomous Region of China.

The ceremony to handover the donation was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer received the donation, handed over by Ambassador of China to Maldives Wang Lixin.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the donation will be distributed to island communities, to be used during times of drinking water shortage.

Shedding light on the warm and friendly relations between Maldives and China, FM Zameer noted that China continues to remain as a good friend of the Maldives, especially during challenging times and in times of crisis.

Further, the Maldivian minister expressed gratitude to the people of Xizang Autonomous Region, for the kind gesture and to the people and government of China for the continued support and goodwill extended to the people and the government of Maldives.
