The third session of the ‘Ahaa’ public forum to address public queries, which translates as “ask” has been scheduled for Monday night
The President’s Office revealed that the forum of ministers is organized by the officer in collaboration with the Public Service Media (PSM).
It will be held on Monday night.
Designed as a platform for the public to engage in discourse, the forum will focus on key public policy issues.
The forum invites questions from the public to be addressed by the Cabinet of Ministers. The forums carry the purpose of informing and updating the public on the government’s initiatives. Further, it also aims to provide adequate answers to questions from the public directly.
Members of the cabinet participating in the third session of the forum include Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihsaan, Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen, Minister of Higher Education, Labor and Skills Development Dr. Maryam Mariya and Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will be features in the forum every three months and the cabinet ministers will be featured every two months, where they will directly address public concerns.
The first-ever public forum of ministers was held on 25 January 2024. It featured Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Social and Family Development Dr. Aishath Shiham, Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib.
During the second forum, President Muizzu met the public and addressed their concerns, on 23 February 2024.
The third forum was initially scheduled for March but it was delayed to April, as it collided with the fasting month of Ramadan.
In a bid to allow as many members of the public to participate as possible, the forum is usually held at a large outdoor venue.
However, the President’s Office will hold the session at the Television Maldives Building this time round, due to the unpredictable weather conditions.
Muizzu earlier noted that he would hold meetings with the public similarly and hold a forum to address concerns of the people every three months.
These forums are included in the president’s presidential pledges.
They aim to inspire his administration to engage closely with the people and to carry out its responsibilities as transparently as possible.
Broadcasting these forums will help public view the live streams and contribute to the discussions via social media.
