Heena Waleed has been appointed as the Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu made the appointment on Wednesday.
This appointment marks the first time a female appointee has filled the position.
Alongside taking on the responsibilities of the Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Heena Waleed will continue to serve as the CEO of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
Heena Waleed will not be given additional remuneration.
Having previously served as a political director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heena Waleed held multiple positions in media as well.
She previously served in multiple high-ranking positions in the state media, including Head of News at Public Service Media (PSM).
Heena Waleed attained higher studies in mass communication, journalism and advertisement.
