Cases of gang violence
Man arrested in assault case, released
If the conditions of release are violated, he will be taken into police custody again
He was released as the offence does not appear to be a serious criminal offence
He was released on conditional bail, on Thursday

A man who was arrested in connection with a case of gang violence, has been released due to lack of further evidence.

The Maldivian man, 24, was arrested in connection with a case of gang violence with the involvement of some others.

He was released on conditional bail, on Thursday.

The Criminal Court order states that although a little evidence has been submitted against the accused, this was the third time that he was presented before the court for his remand hearing, and as he has already spent 15 days in custody, and as the last bail order also mentioned that there is only some amount of evidence produced against him, he was released.

He was released as the offence alleged against him does not appear to be a serious criminal offence, there appears to be no need for further detention.

If the conditions of release are violated, he will be taken back into police custody, according to the court order.
