President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has asserted that the urban center his administration has envisioned for Nilandhoo island of Faafu atoll, would make the island’s residents proud.

He said this while speaking to residents of Nilandhoo island as part of his tour of several islands of Faafu atoll, which he began on Saturday.

Taking the podium at the meeting with Nilandhoo residents, President Muizzu noted that his administration remains committed to implement development initiatives through sustainable means.

Highlighting that seven urban centers would be established under its development master plan, the president gave his assurance that these centers would employ sustainable service delivery methods in every sector.

Shedding light on his vision to develop Nilandhoo island, President Muizzu touched upon the commencement of reclamation efforts to support the development of an airport in the island.

Further, he emphasized the development of two resorts and a city hotel steer economy towards growth and assured the island residents that he remains committed to not “just” meeting but surpassing their expectations.

The president expressed his desire to serve all citizens equally and without prejudice and acknowledged the administration's efforts to roll out and facilitate service delivery across the nation.

Speaking further, Muizzu shed light on his administration's dedicated efforts to establish genuine political stability nationwide.

As such, he assured that he would refrain from any form of retaliation towards political adversaries, instead focusing on accelerating the pace of development.

Muizzu stated that the collective support and unity of the people would facilitate fast-tracked development.

The president departed on his official visit to several islands of Faafu atoll on Saturday evening and is scheduled to sit down for talks with island councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) and island communities.
